About St. Andrew
Saint Andrew was one of the first disciples to be called by Jesus together with his brother Simon Peter. He was born in Bethsaida and his parents were Jonah and Joanna. Andrew was a fisherman and also a disciple of John the Baptist before being called by Jesus.
He was the one that spotted the boy with the five loaves of bread and two fish during the feeding of the 5000 people. He preached in the Black Sea and the Dnieper River, Scythia, Thrace, Byzantium, Cappadocia, Galatia, Bithynia and Patrae in Achaia. He established a church an orthodox church in the city of Byzantium.
On the day of his festival, he produced both manna with the appearance of flour and oil with the fragrance of nectar which flows from his tomb. During his preaching the blind regained their sight and infirm were made whole in Patra. He prayed for Sosios the illustrious citizen who recovered from from a serious illness. He healed Maximilla the wife to the governor of Patra.
St Andrew preached the gospel to many Asiatic nations but on his arrival to Edessa he was taken and
crucified on an X cross by Aegeas the governor pc the region at the time. Andrew had converted multitude to Christianity throughout the Mediterranean including the wife of the governor in the southern Greece in turn the governor immediately ordered that he should be scourged and then crucified.
St. Andrew died in Patra, Greece and was buried in the church of the Holy Apostles in Turkiye. He
represents strength, endurance, courage and confidence.

HISTORY OF SAINT ANDREW JUMUIYA
St. Andrews Jumuiya strated in the year 2015 and was born from St. Veronica. It had 13 families but 8 active members lead by:

- Domitila Kavesa – Treasurer
- Victoria Kanyago – Secretary
- The late Damaris Mali – Vice Secretary.
Later Mr. Kiama handed over to;
- Trizah Nzambi – Moderator
- Mercy Kendi – Treasurer,
- Georgina Were – Secretary
This office served for 2 terms (6 years). In May 2023 elections were held and

- Rose Adero – Vice Secretary
Now the Jumuiya has 20 families but only 10 are active families. In 204 two children have been confirmed, we plan to have an infant to be baptized. We currently have;

- 3 members of CMA
We are lucky to have our young people serving as Altar boys. One of our significant achievements as a Jumuiya is having worked diligently to get our monthly church Jumuiya contribution up to date. This had
been pending from 2016.
